No preview, only paid version, not free

It is annouce as Free on the app store, but when you download the “free version”, a pop up page invites you to update the app (without going through Apple Store approval).
Then you only have the choice to a paid version…
I asume they do this so they don’t share earnings with Apple. They use Apple to get users by saying it’s free, but don’t want to pay saying their app is not free.
I also assume the good reviews are fake, but who knows...
